Deschutes Children's Foundation

Every Kid Fund

The Every Kid Fund is a unique scholarship program that provides opportunities for our youth to participate in meaningful after-school activities. Project framers determined the best way to build a sustainable program was to gather donations from a variety of sources and establish an investment account. The earnings from the investments are used to provide scholarships for positive after-school activities for kids who otherwise would be unable to afford to participate. Deschutes Children’s Foundation manages this fund, distributing earned income to eligible organizations providing these activities, through a request for proposal process.

The Every Kid Fund is a dynamic, growing resource for children in Deschutes County. Since April of 2000, the Every Kid Fund has provided 1400 scholarships totaling over $117,000.

The Every Kid Fund is entirely supported by grants and contributions from private individuals and businesses. To support this unique community resource, contact Deschutes Children's Foundation at 541.388.3101. Or mail to: Every Kid Fund 1010 NW 14th Street, Bend, OR 97701. We also offer secure online giving.

To apply for a scholarship from the Every Kid Fund, contact the FAN advocate at your school. Only non-profit organizations can receive Every Kid Fund dollars. However, kids can access scholarship money through their FAN advocates. Organizations who provide eligible activities must apply for program membership. Email Heather Crawley for details.

TESTIMONIALS

"Thank you very much for paying for my horseback riding. I enjoy it a lot and hope to get better. You guys have made me very happy."

“The Every Kid Fund is a 'Godsend' for four students at the middle school. Two sixth graders and two seventh graders spent six Monday afternoons at the Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center. All of these students have difficult family situations. We all agreed this riding class has improved their outlook about school, has made school more interesting and increased school attendance, and has increased their self-esteem. They can hardly wait to have more experiences like this."

"One of the students at my elementary school has a wonderful voice. Through a partnership with the Every Kid Fund and her talent, she is now in the Youth Choir of Central Oregon. This is even more special as no child outside of Bend or Sisters has been involved in the choir for many years. Through this experience she will get to travel to different areas when they perform. This 9 year-old girl will experience a world she may never have been able to see or have been part of."
