Ground Breaking at East Bend Campus

Deschutes Children’s Foundation hosted a groundbreaking ceremony at the East Bend Campus, 2125 NE Daggett Lane, on Monday, April 14, at 10:00 a.m.  KOHD NEWS, Central Oregon’s new local ABC station, presented a $10,000 check and items donated in association with KOHD and “Oprah’s Big Give” to DCF at the groundbreaking.

This event marks the beginning of construction on a 13,000 square foot building that will be home to nine nonprofits that serve children and families. DCF recently conducted a capital campaign that raised $4.1 million for construction of this project, as well as a recently completed addition to the KIDS Center at the Rosie Bareis Campus.

The Rosie Bareis Community Campus on west 14th Street in Bend was the first of Deschutes Children’s Foundation’s collaborative campuses. DCF’s collaborative model is acclaimed throughout the northwest. Since its emergence in 1990, DCF has added three more campuses in Deschutes County, and currently houses 29 programs that, in 2007, saw more than 45,000 client visits. DCF charges no rent to resident programs and manages facility needs, enabling program staff to focus on the services they provide to children and families. Clients find a welcoming atmosphere where they are able to move easily from one program to another.
